Continuing Safe Practices in Market

In these unprecedented times, the Central Market Trust is committed to maintaining the core function of Lancaster Central Market: serving as a fresh food source for the Lancaster community.

To ensure this continues throughout the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19), the Trust continues to align market operations with public health guidelines.

Accordingly, effective April 21, 2020, the Lancaster Central Market will require all employees and customers of Market to wear some form of cloth mask while on the premises. Those without a mask will not be permitted to enter the building. We will have a limited supply of bandanas on hand for customers that do not have access to a mask.

More information on the use of face masks or how to create your own can be found at the link below.

During this time Market will continue to be open for business on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays during the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The first hour from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. will be dedicated to the elderly and those with compromised immune systems. The number of customers in Central Market at any one time will continue to be limited.

Because of these restrictions, we ask our customers to send a single shopper per household to obtain all needed items helping to minimize any delays and inconvenience for other customers.

We would also like to remind customers of other ‘best practices’ defined by public health experts:

•                     Refrain from touching food displayed at any stand and food cases. When the standholder is serving you, simply point to the items you would like to purchase.

•                     Maintain a safe social distance from others of 6 feet. Use the red “X” placed in front of open stands to monitor distance.

•                     Wash/sanitize your hands frequently and minimize touching surfaces in the Market. Sinks are located in our restrooms.

We encourage customers to regularly check our Facebook page and website for updates including information about open stands and alternative pre-order and delivery options.
